This is the story of a Slovenian peasant family in Carinthia in Austria, threatened by language bans and resettlements in the Nazi period. They join the resistance, but after the war, after only a few weeks of hard-won freedom, they are once again suppressed and excluded.

Immer noch Sturm (Still storm) is a journey taking place between past, dreams and different worlds. The renowned Austrian writer and playwright Peter Handke takes us on a journey through Europe's past and forward to the present. Old letters and photos, memories and stories that his relatives have told each other: those are the tracks he follows. The narrator remembers his ancestors by a photograph in black and white. He puts himself into the picture and blows life into it, little by little. He creates playfully theatrical characters arguing, experiencing happiness and sorrow – and he encounters his grandparents, aunts and uncles. The narrator is a guest in a remembered community, but they call him home to the places of his childhood.

Immer noch Sturm, directed by Dimiter Gotscheff, premiered at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg in 2011. Both Peter Handke and the production have received several awards. Handke has been awarded the International Ibsen Award for 2014.
