What kind of power do tears and crying hold over us?

Directed by Hika & Valborg / Hessische Theaterakademie
Focusing on personal feelings, intimacy and the sharing of private lives is more and more common. Hika&Valborg questions the role of tears and crying in public and how it affects us whether it is on stage, on TV, in the newspapers or in politics. With the never ending talent shows and reality TV series, there are tears all over the place. Are they supposed to represent something real? Something human? Is a politician who has completely messed it up seen as more trustworthy if he or she cries publicly during an apology? Can crying be used as a political weapon? How do we use and stage our crying? A critical and humorous look at European contemporary theatre.
