The sea (NO)
Ingun Bjørnsgaard has been inspired by The Lady from the Sea in this presentation of a work-in-progress that topicalises one of the first ‘modern’ women.

Directed by Ingun Bjørnsaard / Dansens hus and Nationaltheatret
Ellida Wangel is held captive by urges that are simultaneously dangerous, repulsive and alluring. Basic themes can be found here that also characterise Bjørnsgaard’s expressive style: Ambivalence, vague yearnings, the need to escape, obscenity and superficial anxiety. In the encounter between the imposingly superficial and the intimately private, Bjørnsgaard looks for the fragility and complexity in her dancers. She is seeking those moments when people are at their most human, where beauty goes hand in hand with failure. Laughable, as well as moving.
