The Father
Who has the right to the child?

Directed by Victoria H. Meirik
The Father is about how the child becomes a puppet in its parent’s attempts to control the world based on their own fears. He loses everything. She becomes judge and jury. And the child is torn between the two of them. In the western world the child has become a status symbol, an extension of its parent’s identity and an affirmation of gender. Statutory Acts and provisions relating to the child continue to revolve around the parents’ rights. But who has the right to the child? And what do rules and regulations mean when we fight over our children? How modern is modern man when you get right down to it? Are we rational or are we controlled by archaic structures from deep within?
