After Hedda

After Hedda started as an idea during preparations for the Year of Ibsen, when some of our female actors discussed the more peripheral women in Ibsen’s plays, and later joined forces with directors, a playwright, a pianist, and a dramaturge.

After Hedda
In-house Production

Directed by Runar Hodne

After Hedda presents a brand new text by Liv Heløe. The play focuses on the smallest female part in Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, the kitchen maid Berte. At Hedda’s funeral, Berte encounters not only Juliane Tesman and Thea Elvsted; several more of Ibsen’s women also make an appearance.

The piece has been improvised into being over a few days towards the end of the Ibsen Festival.
