The Ibsen Relay 2004
The Ibsen Relay is the gateway to Ibsen for the young generation, arranged by the National Theatre and StøpeSkien/Skien municipality for the fifth time.

With Ibsen’s own life and writing as a backdrop the students are invited to create their own performances. This offer gives them the oppportunity to search into, challenge and play with Ibsens works. The concepts that result are widely different, from performing the lines as they were written, via performances with elements from different plays put together or new writing based on one or more of his works – or from Ibsen’s own life.
This year there are 12 counties/districts represented with a total of 72 groups, which adds up to almost 600 students giving their personal interpretation of Ibsen. After finals in every district represented these meet for a semifinal in Skien, the birthplace of Ibsen. From this presentation a jury picks three groups that are invited to perform their works at the Amphi Stage, after which another jury selects the winner of the 2004 Ibsen Relay.
