tanGHOST

Tango is passion and a place for lonesome souls to meet and dance out their loneliness; the same loneliness that’s between the lines of Ibsen’s Ghosts

tanGHOST
Guest Production

Directed by Per Olav Sørensen / POS Theatre Company

In tanGHOST the chamberlain Mr Alving is present as a ghost dancing tango. When Mrs Alving has a showdown with pastor Manders and the approach of the syphilitic Osvald to Regine, it all happens to intense tango rythms. Everything is laid out for some of the hottest moments of the Ibsen Festival when tanGHOST is visiting the Amphi Stage – with the world famous tango star Pablo Veron as choreographer and also performing a central part of the play.

Ghosts was the natural choice for a combination of a classical text and dance and video/animation; one of Ibsens’s most intense dramas with pent-up aggression, denial of sexuality, failed ambitions and unfulfilled joy of life.

Anyway, tanGHOST is an idea that without doubt will add new colours to one of the greatest dramatists in world history. tanGHOST is to tour internationally in 2005 and preparations for an adaptation for TV is under way.
