Mabou Mines' Dollhouse (US)
In Lee Breuers production Nora lives in an actual doll’s house. Here she can crawl through small doors, sit at small tables and serve her friend Kristine Lunde coffee in tiny cups.

Directed by Lee Breuer / Mabou Mines
It all looks so charming – and quite delightful. Until Helmer comes home. He is a little person, like all the other men surrounding Nora. Nora’s doll’s house is adapted to the small men.
Mabou Mines’ Doll's House was one of the great theatrical events off-Broadway during the fall of 2003. With outstanding dramatic performances and a playful entry into Ibsen’s work, the director, Lee Breuer, reveals a brutal and obtrusive truth: Nora lives in a world entirely built on the premises of men – in which Helmer and Dr. Rank both nevertheless look up to their ”little” songbird!
